Christian camping for youths is available at a number of camps in the Mid-Atlantic area; however, Camp Hill members, both adults and youth, are heavily involved in two camps; Camp Manatawny near Reading, PA, and Pennsylvania Christian Camp near Altoona, PA.
Pennsylvania Christian Camp
Pennsylvania Christian Camp operates a youth camp three weeks a year renting a state owned facility at Blue Knob State Park near Altoona. This camp is a beautiful nature retreat near the top of the second highest mountain in Pennsylvania with a view of 3 states. Youth attend all three weeks and Camp Hill adults make up the majority of staff, including all three directors, at Senior week.
Camp Manatawny
Camp Manatawny is a Christian camp located in Douglassville, PA east of Reading which provides facilities year round for summer youth camp, retreats for all ages, and facility rentals. Our congregation holds a fall retreat at Camp Manatawny and our youth and adults are involved in several weeks of summer camp as well as other youth and family events.
The two camps provide very different experiences but both provide an excellent program for youth that is spiritually uplifting and fun. Christian camping is open to all youth no matter their church affiliation or background. Attendance is encouraged for all youth and discrete scholarships are available for those with financial limitations.
