Jesus Prays in Gethsemane while His Chosen Sleep


Text/Post: [9 of 20 - Prayer in Gethsemane: Jesus goes into the Garden of Gethsemane to pray. His sweat are like drops of blood. With a very heavy heart He asks the Father for another way, but He understands that His suffering and death is the only path that we would have for salvation. He submits His will to the Father. He then prayed for His disciples and all those who would follow Him, including us.] Text @ 8 PM

Text/Post: [11 of 20 - Jesus’ Betrayal & Arrest: Jesus was betrayed in the Garden with a kiss by Judas, His apostle. He asked for Whom did they seek. When they replied, “Jesus of Nazareth.” He spoke, “I am He.” They fell to the ground at His words. Peter then cut off the ear of Malchus. The Trial before Caiaphas & the Sanhedrin (after midnight)


Text/Post: [12 of 20 - Midnight Trial: Jesus endured questioning at midnight by the High Priest and throughout the night. There were false witnesses that testified against Him. Such a trial needed to be done in secret because it was not done to seek justice. His disciples scattered.] Text @ 8:55 PM

Text/Post: [13 of 20 - Peter’s Denial: Before the cock crowed in the morning, Peter had denied Jesus three times.] Text @ 7 AM


Trial Before Pilate, then Deferred to Herod

Text/Post: [15 of 20 - Bearing His Cross: By this time Jesus had been handed over to the soldiers who had beaten Him. They stripped Him of His garments which they had cast lots for. Jesus was given His own cross beam to carry up the road to Golgotha. After He had fallen several times due to His weakened state. Simon was compelled to help Him carry it the rest of the way. At first, the two thieves hanging on their own crosses which they had earned through their crimes had mocked Jesus as well. One of them repented acknowledging Christ’s innocence and His kingdom. Text/Post: [17 of 20 - Jesus’ Death: At noon darkness had come over the face of the earth. It had remained dark for three hours. At the ninth hour (about 3 PM) Jesus speaks, “Father, into Your hands I commit My Spirit.” Jesus died. The curtain within the temple tore from the top to the bottom. The earth quaked, and witnessing these things the centurion nearby praised God, saying, “Certainly this Man was innocent.”] Text @ 3 PM

Jesus was already dead, and fulfilling Scripture His legs were not broken, but His side was pierced. Joseph of Arimathea, a righteous man on the counsel asked Pilate for Christ’s body.
